From the President...

Dear friends and colleagues:

Thank you for your interest in Harvard Alumni for Global Development, a shared interest group created for Harvard alumni who are interested in issues facing emerging markets and developing countries. Established in 2013, our network reaches over 1,000 members, cutting across schools, graduation years and disciplines. We support a number of causes and initiatives in education, finance, healthcare, climate change, tech, government, law, trade, agriculture and so much more.

We live in a time of momentous change, where advancements in global development are retelling the narrative about how we work and live. This time of change presents stellar opportunities but also arduous challenges. It is why our organization was created - to share experiences, expertise, research and ideas to promote global engagement and cross-sector partnerships.

The accelerated pace at which unpredictable challenges have surfaced calls for pioneering innovations from those working in the global development space. The upending COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, economic instability, famine, war, racial injustice, gender inequality and other forms of discrimination have proven that we have much work ahead of us. However, our unparalleled ability to perceive opportunity where others see peril will aid in enhancing our efforts in achieving sustainable peace.

We welcome your engagement in our network and encourage you to gain a deeper understanding of the work we do via our in-person and virtual events found on our Events page. Be sure to follow us on social media, and don’t forget to tune in to our bi-monthly “Global Minds” podcast.  Each episode presents an interview with Harvard’s leading movers and shakers in the global development space. We invite you to our group and sincerely look forward to having you join us in our efforts to ensure prosperity and security for all.

With warm regards,
Zaina Adamu
